Sarah Jackson
Highly experienced and professional sax player excelling in stage and theatre shows, solo and DJ sets playing all styles of popular music.
Soprano, Alto, Tenor saxes and Flute, backing vocals, keys and clarinet
Sarah has travelled the world playing with the likes of Sam Dees, The Supremes, Johnny Bristol, Gladys Night and the Pips, the Bootleg Beatles and lead alto with the Crissy Lee Jazz Orchestra, playing at top festivals and overseas corporate events over a number of years.
Sarah’s first and overiding love is of the jazz idiom having studied at Leeds college of Music on the Jazz course and then afterwards at the Guildhall School of Music. She currently runs a sextet that pays tribute to Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers called Buhaina (see OTB video) that also pays homage to the full post Blakey alumni as well as the traditional repertoire. She also runs a jazz quartet called ‘Something Else’ (see video ‘You’d Be So Nice to Come Home To’ feat. Andy Staples), and regularly plays lead alto in the Eddie Seales Big Band. If you are interested in booking a jazz experience please contact Sarah here.
However, Sarah also loves rock music, funk and disco and enjoys playing with rock bands and performs in various theatre shows such as with the Pop Power Orchestra (see video) and is currently working with them on a new show called In Our Eyes and British Gold both of which are touring soon.
In addition to all this she is embracing the current trend for solo sax performances and is having great fun performing solo and DJ sax gigs!
She is equally at home on a big stage, front and centre of a show, or tucked away with the horn section working as a team.
